Arooj Aftab

Arooj Aftab is a Pakistani artist who now lives in Brooklyn. The singer became the first Pakistani to win a Grammy for Best Global Music Performance in 2022. Her music is influenced by Rumi and Abida Parveen and merges Sufi-mystical poetry with independent rock. 

Epik High  

Epik High is an alternative hip-hop trio that originates from South Korea, Seoul. The band is noted for its successful combinations of different genres and styles of hip-hop.

Japanese Breakfast 

It is an experimental pop band from Japan. The band is led by Michelle Zauner, Korean American indie singer, guitarist, director, and author. Their first album, “Psychopomp,” appeared in 2016. Japanese Breakfast was shortlisted for two awards at the 64th Annual Grammy Awards.

Joji

Joji is the nickname of George Miller, a Japanese-Australian singer and producer. Joji got popular thanks to TVFilthyFrank show and comedy hip-hop music. In 2017, Joji stopped his YouTube channel and focused all his effort on music. The singer creates music in R&B, lo-fi, and hip-hop styles.

Raveena

Raveena Aurora is an Indian American singer and songwriter who now lives and performs in New York. If you like R&B, you probably already know her hits, such as “Temptation” and “Sweet Time”. The Hu is a Mongolian heavy metal and folk-rock band. The Hu manages to combine traditional Mongolian vibes (horsehead fiddle, Mongolian guitar, jaw harp), traditional throat singing, and contemporary sounds. The name of the band comes from a Mongolian word meaning “human being”. 

TOKiMONSTA 

Tokimonsta is a nickname of a Los Angeles DJ and record producer. Jennifer Lee comes from Korea and became the first woman to sign onto Flying Lotus’s Brainfeeder label. Likewise, the artist became the first woman and Asian American to be nominated for Grammy for Best Electronic/Dance Album.

Luna Li

Luna Li is another singer and guitarist with Asian roots. She was inspired by Mitski and Japanese Breakfast and sings in the styles of dreamy rock and bedroom pop. The singer herself says that she is a lot driven by nature and self-love in her compositions. She tries to show all Asian girls that they can achieve success on the stage as singers. 

H.E.R.

H.E.R is a singer with a Grammy Award and a Global Citizen Live performer. This Filipino singer creates light and inspiring music, encouraging young Black and Filipino girls to achieve more.
